About the Chapter

We are a group of volunteer advocates working on #insulin4all action in South Africa to raise awareness about the insulin price crisis and improve the lives of people with diabetes in our country.

We are supported by T1International, a non-profit organization that advocates for and with everyone with type 1 diabetes around the world. The organization accepts no funding from pharmaceutical companies and provides advocacy training and support.

Janice, Chapter Leader

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 6, Janice Barnes knows firsthand the harsh realities of insulin rationing and supply shortages. Her personal experiences fuel her relentless drive to lead the South Africa chapter of T1International. Janice believes that uniting voices through this movement can spark real, lasting change for people living with diabetes across the country. Bold, passionate, and unwavering, she is committed to transforming South Africa’s diabetes care landscape.
