As a person living with type 1 diabetes who has been involved with T1International since 2019, I’m so proud to step into the role of Board Chair of Trustees this year. I believe in this organisation and this cause deeply because it is personal to me. I live with the ups and downs of diabetes, and I believe in health justice for everyone who is faced with this condition worldwide.

Each year with T1International’s updated Impact Report comes out, I am continually blown away by how much our small organisation achieves with so little. This year is no different. T1International amplifies the voices of people with diabetes, and you can see that in this report. Advocates share their personal stories and the wins. The power of community shines through above all else. With that, I encourage you to read the 2023 T1International Impact Report.

T1International has become an indispensable resource for individuals like myself, providing a platform for expressing our concerns and a valuable source for understanding the insulin price crisis. Without T1International, I would not have found an outlet for my outrage or a means to take action.

Advocacy takes time and does not change the world overnight — but it changes the world in a long-term, meaningful way for countless people. Reflecting on a decade of tireless advocacy, including protests and demonstrations outside Eli Lilly, I am filled with pride for our community knowing that the company, along with the two other main insulin manufacturers announced they would be lowering some insulin costs, which have started to come into effect.

The T1International community and Team have triumphed over significant challenges with resilience, despite facing tough and often disheartening obstacles in advocacy. This unwavering dedication has yielded incredible results that we can all proudly celebrate! This isn't the end of the fight, but I know that without dedicated activists and the power of T1International's support and network, this win would not have been achieved.
